Chemistry Unit
Objectives:
- Understand the relationship of electron shell configuration to chemical reactivity. Important terms include valence electrons and octet rule (rule of eight) and ions.
- Understand the nature of ionic, metallic and covalent bonds and use of the periodic table to predict the likelihood and composition of such chemical bonds.
- Use Lewis diagrams to illustrate chemical bonds.
- Balance chemical equations with regard to the law of conservation of mass.
