Cell Wall

1. Structure - varies with species, up to several µm thick.
2. Function - protection, support, defies gravity.
3. Resources extracted from cell wall include wood and pectin.

Intercellular Junctions

1. Tight junctions - seal to prevent leakage past groups of cells (ex. intestines).
2. Desmosome - an anchoring junction that holds cell together.
3. Gap junctions - pores between cells allow cytoplasmic communication and transport.
