Unit 1 Conference Abstract

  1. You and a partner will write an abstract for one of the Unit 1 Guided Inquiry Activities.
    • Activity 1.1 - Trash Audit --> medium difficulty when writing the abstract.
    • Activity 1.2 - Compost column --> medium difficulty.
    • Activity 1.3 - Decomposition (moldy bread) --> low difficulty.
    • Activity 1.4 - Mystery bags (yeast) --> low difficulty.
    • Activity 1.5 - Modeling biological molecules --> very difficult.
  2. For this class assignment, we will define an abstract as consisting of several readable paragraphs. The abstract should fit on one type-written page with single-line spacing and reasonable font and margins.
  3. Use the topics of the lab report format to outline your abstract. Remember, you will not use the topic headings (Question:, Procedure:, etc), numbered lists, data tables, etc in your abstract.
  4. The abstract will provide a non-technical reader a clear understanding of what you did, why you did it, what the results were and what the implications are of those results.
  5. The Big Exception to usual class procedures: one abstract paper will be turned in by the partnership. Both names will be at the top of the paper. Each person will staple to the paper a completed group work rubric.
